The visionary behind the storytelling efforts

Founder of The Impact Badger

Afeez Adetunji

Afeez was born in the city of Lagos, Nigeria, he grew up surrounded by stories of grit, hope, and young people with dreams bigger than their circumstances.

He saw how much potential often left untapped, not because people lacked talent, but because they lacked the right doors to walk through. That stayed with him. It shaped how he looked at the world and planted a seed for what would one day become The Impact Badger.

Afeez’s passion is simple but deep, which is to help young people believe in their dreams, find the tools to chase them, and actually see those dreams come alive. He believes in giving them more than advice; he gives them opportunities, support, and the kind of belief that makes them believe in themselves.

Professionally, his path has been as exciting as it has been purposeful. He has worked in marketing, technology, and finance. He co-founded a fintech company that directly and indirectly provided jobs for over 300 young people in 126 locations across West Africa, with most of those roles going to young women. He has also worked closely with the Economic Community of Africa Sixth Region, where he helped create programs that opened doors for young people across Africa. These programs focused on leadership, cultural exchange, education, and access to opportunities that many of them had never imagined possible. Through ECASR, Afeez brought young people together, not only to learn but to connect with each other and see themselves as part of something bigger.

The Impact Badger was born from more than just an idea. It came from moments when Afeez sat with young people who felt invisible, unheard, and unsure of where their path could lead. He knew their struggles because he had seen them firsthand. He knew what it was like to feel like the world had no space for your dreams. The platform became his way of making sure no young person ever felt their story was too small or their dream was too far away.

Afeez sees The Impact Badger as not a project but his way of telling the world that the stories of young Africans and Caribbeans deserve to be heard, celebrated, and supported. It is his way of saying that the next generation does not have to wait for permission to be great. It is his way of turning “what could be” into “what is.”

If you ever meet Afeez, you’ll quickly notice he’s not the loudest voice in the room, but his presence is felt. He talks to you like you matter, because to him, you do. And when he says, “Your story is powerful,” you can tell he means every word.
